Bluehost – This is the host I’m currently using for jaymiranda.com. The customer service is fantastic and really sets them apart. I’m a paying customer and I trust them with my blog–that’s the highest compliment I cant give them. One thing I love about them is that you can install WordPress directly onto their server with one click. If you are interested in starting a blog, check out How to Start a Blog in which I break down the steps.
WordPress.org – This is the blogging platform I use to power my blog. I used to be on tumblr but I wanted to use a blogging platform that could help me GROW. WordPress is built for SEO (search engine optimization). It’s also highly customizable, which means you can make a better looking blog. I know many bloggers want to make the switch to WordPress but think it’s too expensive or difficult. Check out my post How to Move Your Blog to WordPress.
StudioPress Themes for WordPress – This is essentially the building blocks to making a really good-looking website. There are numerous options in their marketplace. I love how customizable and user-friendly this product is. You do have to pay for Genesis and its themes but in my opinion, it’s worth it. That’s not to say there aren’t great free themes on WordPress, it just depends on your needs.
IFB Blogging Tips – This is an excellent introduction to fashion blogging, but it applies to other forms of blogging just as much. It answers the question, “What makes a great blog?” It’s a great read for anyone trying to navigate blogging. Independent Fashion Bloggers puts out some of the best material on this question and others.
